Legato has multiple meanings, but when discussing guitar, it is most often used to refer to a series of hammer-ons and pull-offs. Let's practice it now!
You should only need to pick the first note of this exercise. Everything else is meant to be performed with a hammer-on, or pull-off. I've highlighted each four note section that's repeated to make it a little easier to read!
The high E string is the easiest string to perform legato on, since there's no string above it to get caught on. It's a good idea to try this exercise on other strings as well to get a feel for legato with less room to maneuver.Â
It also takes a little more force to perform on a thicker string!
