Sweet Dreams
(Are Made of This)
Eurhythmics - Covered by Marilyn Manson
This creepy reimagining of the 80s hit can get us started with some rock riffing and power chords.
Make sure to let the notes of the first bar ring out! Those are slides in bar 2, in case you forgot. Trying to play the verse riff ten times through cleanly (like the song) is a good test of your consistency.
Notice that the chords don't always change at the start of each bar in the chorus! Read carefully to make sure you're switching in the right spot.
I've included just the first four bars of the solo here. The tricky part here is nailing those bends at the end of each bar.
Note that the first three are a bend AND release. So, start on the 3rd fret, bend up to the sound of the 4th fret, and then release the bend to get back to the sound of the 3rd fret. Listen to the song if you need to hear it for yourself.
The last bend doesn't come back down! Just bend up to the sound of the 8th fret and hold it there - applying some vibrato if you're able.
